The Environment + AI focus group for the Commonwealth AI Institute (CAII) initiative will gather for its first meeting. (By invitation, email environment@virginia.edu)
This is the inaugural convening of an Environment + AI focus group for an initiative for a Commonwealth AI Institute (CAII). The vision of the CAII is to create a state-wide ecosystem of innovation in AI and grow Virginia as a global leader in AI business, research, and education. This gathering will be a broad conversation to gather input from research administrators and relevant partners and faculty across universities.
The group will discuss research directions and collaboration opportunities across institutions as part of CAII, with a focus on:
o energy
o data center impacts
o forecasting extreme events
o ecology and land use modeling
o infrastructure and transportation resilience
o health implications of AI and environmental change
This in-person event will be held on Friday, September 25, in Charlottesville to discuss research directions and collaboration opportunities across universities as part of CAII.
