This online workshop will bring together climate scientists, AI experts, climate activists, policymakers, and community representatives to discuss strategies for expanding access to climate AI innovation. Through interactive sessions, attendees will explore how climate and extreme weather events are evolving under climate change, how AI is transforming research and forecasting in this space, and how we can dismantle structural barriers to ensure community-driven participation and transparency in climate AI development.
The project is based at the University of Virginia and will be led by Dr. Antonios Mamalakis, Dr. Charity Nyelele, and Dr. Mona Sloane, with support from the Environmental Institute.
