The Energy + Infrastructure Research Interest Group invites faculty from across Grounds to its next session on Wednesday, April 29 at 1:00 PM. This session will provide an opportunity for faculty to explore emerging approaches in data‑driven climate response in architecture, building design, and urban planning, and to connect with colleagues engaged in advancing resilient, adaptive, and computationally informed infrastructure strategies. The meeting will be held via Zoom.

The session will feature Eric Field, Director of Technology and Lecturer in Architecture. Professor Field will discuss how digital twinning can enhance building performance, energy resilience, planning, and policy decision‑making. His work integrates geospatial analytics, simulation technologies, and participatory design and planning tools to support practitioners and communities in evaluating design strategies, investments, and long‑term development trajectories under conditions of uncertainty. The discussion will highlight opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering, data science, environmental policy, and the social sciences to expand UVA’s capacity in advanced modeling for community‑scale decision support.

A Research Interest Group (RIG) is a faculty‑driven community that brings colleagues together around shared themes to spark collaboration, surface new research opportunities, and build interdisciplinary connections that strengthen UVA’s collective capacity. Faculty are warmly invited to join the monthly discussions and contribute to the development of emerging ideas, partnerships, and projects.
