UVA's Environmental Institute is hosting an information session on the Seed Funding Programs

Moderated by EI Program Manager Jonah Fogel, the information session is an opportunity for UVA faculty to learn about the programs, requirements, and deadlines.

Three Seed Funding programs will be covered:

1. The CoLab program (up to $100,000 over 2 years).
This program is to catalyze novel, pan-University partnerships that reshape the understanding of climate challenges and spark transformative solutions. Research projects are evaluated based on their intellectual merit, potential to solve critical problems (particularly those related to climate change), the integration of the disciplinary strengths of the team, potential connections to outside partners (e.g., communities, NGOs, government agencies, industries), and the potential to secure additional funding.

2. The Spark Grant program (up to $30,000 over 1 year).
This program is designed to provide seed funding for the creation of interdisciplinary teams that will go on to conduct solutions-focused research on specific sustainability-related issues. Individual researchers at UVA seeking to create such teams are eligible for Spark Grants.

3. The Rapid Response grant program (up to $30,000 over 1 year).
This program supports faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students who are conducting studies to address time-sensitive issues aligned with the Institute’s mission. Rapid Response grants are intended to respond immediately to pressing opportunities.
